i love to see the cold war videos
Thanks. I’ll be adding more to the Cold War Studies You Tube channel in a couple of weeks.
Lisa, can you give me a reference for your sentence: “Dulles and Wisner try to enlist Americans to parachute into Communist China.”
Thanks,
John Driscoll
Hi John — The sentence is based on information found in Legacy of Ashes by Tim Weiner, top of page 59. Thanks for your interest.
Lisa do you have info about the 1955-56 CIA Station in Mexico City in relation with Castro. I undrestad that his movements came to a surprise to veryone…afterwards! He went 2 times legaly and not to the US in those days.
I don’t have any specific info on this topic Patricio. I think I may have come across something in bios of Che quite a long time ago. Nothing specific I can refer though. Let me know if you come across anything. Sorry I can’t be of help.
I recently came across your posting: Cold War Libya: All About Oil,” in which you state that “In 1969, its [Libya’s] output actually exceeded that of Saudi Arabia.”
What source are you using for oil production figures? I checked the BP Statistical Review of World Energy and DeGolyer and MacNaughton, Twentieth Century Petroleum Statistics, and both put Saudi production in 1969 higher than Libyan production.
Thanks for your comment David. I’ll have to go through my files and see if I can come up with the source. As always though, sources do differ. Meanwhile, I’m happy to post the alternative perspective.
Found the citation David. It’s from Daniel Yergin’s The Prize (2009 edition), page 511.
Please provide citations on timelines
Thanks much for your suggestion.
